Endoscopy in Manchester
An endoscopy is a procedure to examine the inside of your body. It uses an endoscope – a long, thin, flexible tube which has a light and camera at one end.
The images are shown on a monitor, so your consultant can clearly see the inside of your body.
An endoscopy is required to investigate a number of conditions including abdominal pain, difficulty swallowing, persistent diarrhoea and blood in stools.
Types of endoscopy which Mr Stylianides can undertake include:
- Gastroscopy– to examine your oesophagus, stomach and upper small bowel (duodenum)
- Colonoscopy – to examine your entire colon (large bowel)
- Flexible sigmoidoscopy – to examine your rectum and left colon only
